Money out of pocket, no coverage, and overly complicated programs such as the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) frequently lead to seniors and families putting off necessary care. Even with the CDCP, income levels, cost limits, and qualification requirements can be daunting.

The CDCP desires to assist, but its mandates make people uncertain about how to go about seeking assistance.
At Altitude Dental, we make it easy. As a CDCP-participating dentist, we guide you through eligibility, handle direct billing, and ensure you get the most from your coverage.
Our objective? Make dental care easy, affordable, and convenient for everyone in Coquitlam and beyond.
Providers are reimbursed directly for services such as cleanings, fillings, and emergency services to help eligible individuals, reducing or eliminating out-of-pocket fees depending on family income.
The CDCP benefit helps make significant dental care more accessible to uninsured Canadians by subsidizing treatments such as cleanings, fillings, extractions, and dentures.
The amounts of coverage are determined according to family income, thereby helping to pay for or eliminate out-of-pocket expenses. Altitude Dental is committed to making our community aware of these benefits and reaping the long-term benefits of quality dental care by following all the guidelines of Canada’s dental care plan.
To qualify, you must:
Be Any Age:
Children under 18 (an application is needed for each child).
Adults aged 18–64 (eligible since May 2025).
Seniors aged 65+.
CDCP members need to renew their coverage every year. The renewal period for the 2026 to 2027 benefit year (July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027) closed on June 1, 2026; if you did not renew in time, you can submit a new application, but there will be a gap in coverage. Renewals for 2027 to 2028 are expected to open in spring 2027...
Stay Within Income Limits: Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI) must be less than $90,000, based on your (and your spouse's or partner's) previous-year tax return.e taxes).

Lack Private Insurance: No access to workplace dental plans or private coverage.
Any access to private dental coverage, even partial coverage or a plan you don't use, makes you ineligible; coverage through a government social program does not..
Be a Canadian Resident: You (and your spouse or partner) must be Canadian residents for tax purposes, and a Social Insurance Number (SIN) is needed to apply (if available for children).
You and your spouse or partner must have filed your tax returns in Canada for the previous year.

Your adjusted family net income determines how much coverage you are eligible for under the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
Patients are responsible for any services not fully covered by the plan, such as lab fees or optional treatments. We are more than happy to have a discussion regarding coverage during the visit and to assist in making well-informed decisions regarding your care.
Preventive Care: Cleanings, exams, X-rays, and fluoride treatments (twice yearly).
Restorative Services:
Fillings, root canals, crowns, and extractions.
Emergency Treatments: Toothaches, Infections, and Trauma.
Prosthetics: Dentures (some types require preauthorization).
Composite resin or porcelain veneers
Three-quarter crowns
Inlays and onlays made from any dental material
Temporomandibular appliances and therapy
Fixed dental bridges

Check Eligibility: Review the four requirements at Canada.ca/dental (no private dental coverage, taxes filed, adjusted family net income under $90,000, Canadian tax residency).
Submit an Application: Apply online through My Service Canada Account or Canada.ca, or by phone at 1-833-537-4342. Applications for the 2026–2027 benefit year are open. You'll need, for each applicant:
Social Insurance Number (if available for children), full name, date of birth, and home and mailing address.
Details of any dental coverage through a government social program (if applicable).
Wait for Approval: You'll receive a letter with your member ID and coverage start date. Once your coverage has started, schedule appointments with participating dentists like Altitude Dental.
